Uwe Schneidewind becomes patron of New Urban Progress
The Mayor of Wuppertal supports as second patron our vision for urban progress on both sides of the Atlantic
We are thrilled to gain with Uwe Schneidewind a leading pioneer in the field of sustainable urban progress and climate-neutrality as supporter for our transatlantic project New Urban Progress. The Mayor of Wuppertal joins Burkard Jung, Mayor of Leipzig, as second patron of the project.
In 2020, Uwe Schneidewind has been elected as Mayor of Wuppertal. As such, the Green party-member pursues the ambitious goal to transform a former industrial town into a sustainable, climate-neutral model city. Moreover, he demonstrates great expertise in sustainability research as former President of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, and Energy; and he consulted the German Government as part of the German Advisory Council on Global Change in matters of ecological transformation.
New Urban Progress patrons are leading mayors in Germany and the United States who embody the project's mission of an innovative, democratic, and sustainable urban future. They help build our network and increase the impact and quantity of our exchange on urban progress.
